ACCFC 5th–6th Grade Sports SamplerSports & FitnessThe 5th–6th Grade Sports Sampler is a FREE program for Fridley Middle School students in grades 5 and 6. Led by YMCA coaches, students will try a variety of sports and active games, including basketball, soccer, flag football, and more. No prior experience is needed, and all equipment is provided. School-year sessions include a snack and access to the 4:45 p.m. activity bus, in alignment with district transportation procedures. Students needing transportation for spring sessions must complete the transportation form if they have not already done so. Summer sessions will be held outdoors unless weather requires a change. No snack or transportation is provided for the summer session. Students may register for multiple sessions. Families who register for this FREE program may also use code YMCAFridley50 for 50% off a YMCA Summer Camp. Please apply the code at the payment screen when registering for camp. Funding for this project was provided by the Anoka County Children and Family Council (ACCFC), a collaborative initiative of school districts, community providers, and the county that promotes resilience and improved outcomes for children and families. Campers will learn the basic fundamentals of football through exciting drills, skill-building activities, and direct instruction in a positive and supportive environment. Players will build confidence, improve teamwork, and develop core football skills while learning from Fridley student-athletes and coaches. Fridley Tennis Youth Camp (Grades 3-12)Sports & FitnessJoin Fridley Varsity Tennis for a fun and challenging tennis camp designed to help players grow their skills and confidence on the court. Whether you are new to tennis or already have experience, this camp offers high-quality instruction at an exceptional value. Coaches will guide students in all aspects of the game, including stroke development, agility, fitness, and match strategy. Participants will build skills through active instruction and practice in a supportive environment. Students should bring a racket if they have one, though rackets will be available to borrow if needed. Rainouts will not be rescheduled. Fridley Wrestling Summer CampSports & FitnessTake your wrestling skills to the next level at this exciting 3-day summer camp for students in grades K–12. Led by Fridley coaches and featuring clinicians from the University of Minnesota Gophers wrestling program, this camp will give wrestlers the chance to learn new techniques, build strength and confidence, and experience high-level instruction in a fun and challenging environment. Fridley Wrestling Summer Sessions SeriesSports & FitnessStay active and sharpen your skills this summer with Fridley Wrestling! These practices are open to students in grades K–12 and are a great opportunity for wrestlers of all experience levels to build technique, improve conditioning, and grow their confidence on the mat. Sessions will be led by Fridley coaches and may also feature guest clinicians. Whether you are new to wrestling or looking to stay strong in the offseason, these practices offer a fun and supportive way to keep developing your skills. Future Tiger Basketball Camp (Grades K-4)Sports & FitnessThis is a great introduction to begin and continue learning the game of basketball. Each student will learn the basic fundamentals of the game: Running, pivoting, passing, ball handling, catching, jumping, and shooting. There will be a lot of shooting and dribbling games along with games of 1 on 1 up to 4 on 4. The High School Boys' and Girls' Varsity Coaches, Bryce Richter and Kynadi Johnson along with assistant coaches will run camp along with current varsity players. Participants will be introduced to the sport through engaging drills, skill-building activities, and game play that promote teamwork, physical activity, and fun. This experience is designed to help youth build confidence, learn the basics of ultimate frisbee, and enjoy an active session with professional coaches. All necessary equipment, including frisbees, will be provided. The camp will stress fundamentals, individual basketball skills, shooting form, passing, screening, cutting, and ball handling. Team play will consist of 2 on 2, 3 on 3, 4 on 4, and 5 on 5 transition games. The High School Boys' and Girls' Varsity Coaches, Bryce Richter and Kynadi Johnson along with assistant coaches will run camp along with current varsity players. We can work out schedule conflicts with the Summer Strength Training Program. Each student will receive a camp shirt and basketball prizes.
